Terms Apply. Both cards offer the same amount of money, but the spend is a lot less for the SavorOne. Cash Back Rewards
Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card offers cash back on several categories including 3% cash back on dining, at grocery stores, and on select streaming services, and entertainment. You get 1% cash back on everything else. You also get 10% cash back at Uber and Uber Eats, plus your Uber One membership is covered through November 14, 2024. There are no caps on how much cash back you can earn. Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express offers 3% cash back at U.S supermarkets and gas stations, and on U.S. online retail purchases, up to a cap of $6,000 in purchases per year for each of those categories. Keep in mind that $6,000 per year is $500 a month, which is probably plenty for gas and even online purchases, but most families spend more than that on groceries. You can also get a credit for $7 a month for the Disney bundle. There are different tiers, but the basic one (with ads) is $9.99 a month for Disney and Hulu. The SavorOne streaming category only gets you 3% cash back on Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. If Disney+ is your only streaming service, Amex is a better deal since it pays for a good chunk of your subscription fee.
Which card is better comes down to how you spend money. Neither card pays 3% if you buy your groceries at Target, Walmart, or a superstore. But there’s a bit of a loophole with the Amex card. If you buy your groceries online at Walmart.com, you can get 3% cash back because it counts as an online purchase, according to users on Reddit. Amex could change this at any time, but, it appears to work for now.
Here are the details for each card.

After that, your rate will be 19.24% - 29.99% variable, depending on your creditworthiness. The lowest rate is a tiny bit lower than Capital One’s, but it’s pretty negligible.Neither card has an annual fee. However, if you’re traveling internationally, the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card is a better bet because it doesn’t have foreign transaction fees, whereas the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express does.

Who the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card is Best For
The Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card is a great card. You get 3% cash back in categories you spend money in already (with no caps!), there’s a nice, easy-to-attain welcome offer, and you get 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months. It travels well. It’s a good card for almost anyone.
Who the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express is Best For
The Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express is also a great card, held back just a little because of the caps on rewards categories and the foreign transaction fees. On the other hand, “online purchases” is a rewards category that not a lot of other cards offer. Most people make online purchases these days, and if you shop at Walmart.com, it counts as an online purchase, even if you bought groceries.
And if you are a Disney+ fan, you can get a good chunk of the fee as a statement credit each month ($7). American Express has excellent customer service. It’s not good for international travel, but other than that, it’s a worthy addition to your wallet.
Does it Make Sense to Get Both Cards?
Yes. Since neither card has an annual fee, you could get both. There is some overlap in reward categories, but if you have both cards, you could use the Amex card for groceries until you hit the cap and then switch to the Capital One card. You can also get elevated cash back on gas and online purchases with the Amex card, which is not offered by the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card.
Approval Odds
Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card
Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express
These cards are similar, approval-wise. If you have fair credit, you might have a better chance of getting approved for the Capital One card. Capital One can get a little leary if you have too many applications in too short an amount of time, so if you want both, apply for the Capital One card first.
